Changes in technology
Introduction of VDT as a technology layer
VidiCore Index is now integrated directly into MediaPortal
Native support of VidiFlow workflows
Utilization of VidiCore API via VDT hooks
Discontinued
Tabs have been discontinued.
Alternative: Browsers have native feature of multiple tabs. License per client and not via open tabs
The Folder App has been discontinued.
Alternative: Folder and Collection management has now been integrated into MediaPortal’s general search and media management.
Integrating 3rd Party systems via connector to MediaPortal Index has been discontinued.
Alternative: Extend the range of possibilities for workflows and media management as well as the migration of external data by project specific migrations into VidiCore.

UX re-design and optimization
While maintaining the general UX approach from the previous version, this version of MediaPortal comes with a new design and different layouts.
Search combinations across multiple media types in one view
A search is performed on all objects and media types in the system. The results and views can be adjusted independently. Users can further narrow down the search by filters or the extended/advanced search.
Additional tabs on the Preview Panel and Details View
The Preview Panel and Details View now provide a variety of tabs focusing on the following areas:

Edit segments and create new timed events
Open the timed metadata for editing or create new ones based on the selected In & Out point from the player. The views are conveniently configurable for different event type lists.
New integrated upload feature
Different views for types and users
Bulk editing
Upload content directly as collection or into a project
Light, dark and high contrast mode
Switch between different modes and styles. The high contrast mode is optimized for people with seeing disabilities.
Multiselect of results and bulk editing of metadata
Select multiple entries from the result view by holding Ctrl Key and utilize it for a distribution workflow or bulk metadata editing.
Distribute using multiple workflows via the Flow (SendTo) dialog
Selected content can be handed over to multiple destination targets.

Organize your content in folders as workspaces
A new type of collection has been introduced. This collection is displayed in a folder structure above or below the filters. You can navigate through the folder tree and see which content is inside.

URL is now a base 64 encoded search document
